About a year ago, missionaries Mark, Andrea and Reuben Smith returned from Guatemala with a clear call to reach the nations for Christ in the US. After six months of praying, searching, interviews, etc., the Smiths were led to plant an Hispanic church in Rayon City in north Nashville. There are are an estimated 150,000+ Latinos in north Nashville, many of which do not know Christ or attend church. In partnership with Hermitage Hills Baptist Church and the Tennessee Baptist Convention, the Smiths have a 4-point Biblical strategy to reach Latinos for Christ. Based in Psalm 37, the Smiths will:

1. Trust the Lord, do what is good, dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness (v.3). We are actively living in Rayon City, getting involved in the neighborhood, and are involved in several forms of community outreach.
2. Delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart (v. 4). We want to enjoy god and the incredible adventure that God has given them. His Name, his renown and his salvation are our desires. (Isaiah 26:8)
3. Commit your way to the Lord…and He will act (v. 5). We are committed to this marathon of ministry. There are cultural barriers, sin problems, language difficulties and many other obstacles in the way. We will trust in the Lord to move and rescue his people.
4. Be silent..and wait expectantly for Him (v. 7). We are not only committed to the urgency of our cause, but also to remain patient for the Lord to act in our community for his glory. We will pray and wait expectantly for Jesus’ saving work in this place.
